Is Diabetes an expensive disease?

Yes. Diabetes is an expensive disease. It is a chronic ailment, heavy on the purse. It incurs heavy expenditure in the form of medication and due to its side-effects, one may have to undergo surgery or treat other expensive ailments, like kidney problem, heart diseases etc. Even the Government spends money on research and in some countries helps the needy. Research is on to find a cure for Diabetes or at least finding better treatment options. Money has to be spent to find adequate solutions to the health problems, which is incurable.

A diabetic has not only to cope up with the disease, but also with the costs that have to be incurred in its treatment. It is a chronic disease, and one has to continuously spend on getting it treated. One could call it a rich man’s disease, although poverty is also one of the main causes of it. Diabetes is a difficult disease to control and the Federal Government also spends a lot of money on finding better treatment techniques to make it easier for the patient to cope up with it.

How Expensive is Diabetes?

Treating Diabetes is an expensive affair and not many can afford it. Many poorer nations face this health problem due to poverty and malnutrition, and ironically, proper diet is required in its control. Federal funds are being made available for further research to ease the treatment process, to make it more convenient and accessible.
