Diabetes has long been known to cause heart diseases, strokes and other serious health issues but now it is found by a major study that the condition is linked to liver cancer and liver diseases.
It is reported that diabetes is closely linked to a type of liver disorder called as Nonalcoholic Liver Disease which results in liver cancer.
The study after considering the results of its research, past database, demographics and other risk factors concluded that diabetes triples the risk of liver cancer i.e. diabetics run 3 times risk of developing liver cancer. The study also concluded that hepatitis C can potentially interact with diabetes to boost up the risk of developing liver cancer and other liver diseases.
Finally the authors of the study reported that diabetes can be an independent risk factor for developing liver cancer, as the number of patients with diabetes and liver cancer have significantly increased in US in recent years.
