Type 2 Diabetes and the Risk of Fracture are related.This article tries to gain insight in to the association between diabetes and fractures.
Factors responsible for High Risk of Fracture are:
- Long duration of Diabetes.
- Treatment associated with Insulin.
- Diabetic drugs usage.
- High Blood sugar level.

- Insulin preserves and increases bone density and strength.
- Type 1 Diabetic patients are at higher risk of fracture than type 2 diabetic patients.
- Decreased Bone Density is common among Diabetic patients,rising the risk of fracture.
- Type 2 diabetes rises the bone mass density.Inspite of this,it is responsible for risk of fracture.It is confusing the scientists.
- Proximal Humerus Fracture risk is high in Diabetic patients with duration of 10 years or more.

- Recently,Researchers from the University of East Anglia in the United Kingdom and Wake Forest University in the United States have found that two common diabetes drugs — rosiglitazone and pioglitazone — can increase the risk of fracture in women.
