The Insulin used in the treatment of diabetes is a hormone which has extensive effects on the metabolism of the body. A research at a North Western  University observed insulin can be used as a cure for Alzheimer’s too.

What Is Insulin?

Insulin is a peptide hormone made up of various amino acids. It is produced in the pancreas at the cells named as “islets of Langerhans”. It’s commonly used to cure diabetes.

Insulin has various metabolic functions in the body. It basically causes the absorption of Glucose from the blood into various cells of the body including the muscle cells, liver cells and even the fat cells and stores them as glycogen.
